Reflections on why I write on ShujianZhangInsights.
“ Writing is formalized thinking."
Why writing?
Writing has become one of my most valuable personal and professional habits. Through writing, I shape the ideas, questions, and discoveries that matter to me. Each writing exercise helps me think more clearly, articulate more precisely, and learn more deeply.
As someone who works in a global, English-speaking environment but didn't grow up with English as a first language, writing is a quiet yet powerful way to improve my communication. It pushes me to choose the right words, shape them into precise phrases, and build strong, impactful sentences. Writing helps me organize my thoughts, reflect on my beliefs, and reveal new perspectives I hadn't noticed before.
Why blogging?
ShujianZhangInsights is where I shape those thoughts and share them with others. It’s also my training ground, where I practice clearer thinking and more intentional communication. Publishing online keeps me accountable. It forces me to keep learning, reflecting, and expressing ideas carefully and clearly. It also challenges me to turn passive learning into active creation of something meaningful. Perhaps most importantly, it opens the door to meaningful dialogue with readers who ask similar questions or walk parallel paths.
Over the years, I’ve learned so much from generous thinkers and writers who shared their insights openly. This blog is my way of giving back, a small contribution to that ongoing exchange. Through it, I aim to grow as a communicator, a thinker, and a lifelong learner, and hopefully offer something of value to you in the process.
