Inspired by the World Economic Forum’s “Future of Jobs 2025” report

Human-centric skills such as leadership, social influence, curiosity, lifelong learning, self-awareness, underscore the ongoing need for qualities that complement rapid technological advances.”

As automation and AI continue to transform the workplace, the most valuable skills are those that machines can’t replicate. The report highlights the growing importance of “human-centric skills” like leadership and social influence, empathy, active listening, adaptability, curiosity, and lifelong learning as essential for thriving in the evolving workplace (the top right quadrant in the figure below, grouped under “Self-efficacy” and “

working with others”). These are not soft skills; they are core skills that give professionals an edge.

Ways to develop these skills:

🌱 Having a growth mindset

Stay curious and stay hungry. Be willing to question what you think you know and feel comfortable stepping into unfamiliar or uncomfortable territory. Growth lives just outside your comfort zone.

💡 Lead without authority

You don’t need a title to make a difference. Support your peers, take initiative, and lead by example. Leadership shows up in everyday actions.

🧠 Practice self-awareness

Reflect on your thoughts, choices, and emotions, and how they impact those around you. The more you understand yourself, the more effectively you can relate to others and have a meaningful human connection.

📚 Learning meets growth through sharing

Keep learning, and don’t keep it to yourself. Share insights, reading notes, reflections, and your experience to apply the knowledge. The most impactful learners are generous teachers who never stop teaching and sharing. Remember, sharing is caring, and that is what I am doing there.

Our most powerful tools aren’t coded in algorithms; they’re cultivated in how we think, lead, and connect. Human-centric skills aren’t just relevant, they’re what make us truly irreplaceable.
