Inspired by a LinkedIn post by Steven Bartlett after being interviewed by Jimmy Fallon.
Here is what Steven said:
"You absolutely SHOULD sweat the small stuff...The game of business, success, relationships, and life is won in the margins."
What is “small stuff”?
A handwritten note expressing gratitude.
Remembering someone’s coffee order or favorite music.
Noticing what a child or significant one truly wants and making it happen.
Greet the janitor in the hallway or the receptionist at the desk.
Thanking the IT technician who saves the day in the boardroom during your investor pitch.
These small gestures may not seem like a big deal as we are told to focus on big things, but they can have a significant impact. Such moments show that you care and are paying attention, turning everyday moments into something special, making the ordinary extraordinary.
We often chase big wins, significant moments, and big accomplishments. Many times, it is the small things people remember! It is about how we connect and relate with others, and how we make others feel.
Because small things connect us. They remind us: I see you. I value you. You matter.
"Magic isn’t just found in big moments. It grows in thoughtful pauses, follow-through, and small acts of kindness."
Takeaways:
Pay attention to the details.
Build genuine connections with people.
Show care through consistent small acts of kindness.
Remember: the “small stuff” often creates a big impact.
As AI can do so much, let us continue to practice and improve these human-centric skills. These skills aren’t just relevant, they’re what make us truly irreplaceable.
